Some key principles that frame our foundation:
We are trying to model New Testament church practices and principles in how we meet and function (Acts 2:41-42).
We are Christ-centered. We love the Lord Jesus Christ and want Him to have the pre-eminence in everything we do. (Colossians 1:18).
We are gospel focused. Each of us has been saved from the penalty of our own sins and now wants others to discover Jesus Christ as their own Saviour. For this reason, we regularly preach the gospel of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:23).
We are independent and self-governed. This church is not affiliated with any denomination or parent organization, nor have we elevated any single church member into a position of leadership over the church. Instead, under the headship of Christ (Colossians 1:18), we look to the Bible to guide us, with a body of overseers/ elders providing servant/shepherd leadership to the church. (Titus 1:5).
We want to be a good neighbour. Regardless of whether you share our beliefs or not, we want to be friends to everyone and an asset in the community (Galatians 6:10).
We also seek to reach out to the community with adult evangelism, a Sunday School ministry (PGH Bible Hour) for children and other outreaches.
Individually, we are born again Christians, endeavouring to live as followers of Jesus Christ. Collectively, we gather together very simply for worship, prayer, teaching and study of the Bible.
Although our individual testimonies might include a wide variety of details, we believe that anyone who is a born again believer, or Christian, will have these points in common:
There was a specific time and place of salvation - it was not a gradual process
There was a realization of sin and unworthiness before the Holy God, resulting in a repentant heart
There was a moment when we realized that when Jesus Christ died on the cross, it was to pay the price for our sins, and we trusted His work on the cross for our salvation.
Simply stated, we believe the Bible. We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, making it true and relevant to our lives today. We look to the Bible to tell us who God is and to tell us who we are. The Bible guides us in everything from our relationship with God - to morals, ethics and integrity, in family life, business life, church life, and more.
While no single overview could include all that we believe, the following points summarize some critically important aspects of our faith:
We believe the Bible is the only divinely-inspired Word of God, the complete revelation of His mind and will to mankind without error or omission written by men at God's inspiration. — 1 Timothy 3:16
We believe the Bible is our infallible guide for salvation, for the Christian life and for church practice. — 2 Timothy 3:1-17, 2 Peter 1:21
We believe all things were created by God, who exists eternally in the three distinct persons of the Trinity - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. — John 1:3
We believe the universe was created by God in six, literal, consecutive days. — Gen. 1:1-31
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth and His perfect sinless humanity. — Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 1:18-25
We believe Jesus Christ is God the Son and that He came into this world as a man in order to die on the cross as a substitute for sinners. — 1 John 2:2
We believe Jesus Christ rose from the dead and that today He lives in Heaven as our advocate before the Father. — 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
We believe that through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ we can be forgiven, made clean from our sins and justified before the holy and just God — Romans 5:1
We believe salvation is a result of God's great grace and that it is received exclusively through faith in the atoning death of Jesus Christ. — Romans 3:24
We believe that man was created in the image of God, is of a higher order than animal life, has a God-conscious spirit and even after physical death has a soul that lives on forever either in Heaven or Hell and the Lake of Fire. — Genesis 1:26-27, 2:7, 35:18, Luke 16:19-31
We believe every person is born with a sinful nature and that our sin separates us from God and renders us helpless to save ourselves. — Romans 3:23
We believe marriage was instituted by God and is between one man and one woman for life. — Genesis 2:21-25, Mark 10:7-9
We believe life is given by God and begins at conception. — Genesis 2:7 ; Life is intended to end in death by God alone and any human intervention to cause death is murder. — Exodus 20:13, Job 1:21, Hebrews 9:27
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment; and the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide. — John 16:7-8
We believe in the eternal security of each believer. Once a person is saved they are always saved and cannot lose their salvation. — John 10:28-30
We believe in the personal, imminent, coming to the air to take every genuine believer home to heaven prior to the start of the seven year tribulation period. — 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12
We believe that Heaven is the eternal home of the saved. We also believe that Hell is the eternal abode of the lost. — John 5:24; Revelation 20:11-15
We meet together for prayer, ministry and teaching as we find in Acts 2:41-42 and 1 Thessalonians 5:14.
We believe there are two Christian ordinances: baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism by immersion signifies that the believer has died with Christ, has been buried with Him, and has risen to walk in the newness of life.
We hold the Lord's supper on the first day of each and every week to remember and show forth the Lord's death. — Luke 22:14-20, Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
We practice church discipline as we find it in Scripture.
We practice the priesthood of all believers. — 1 Peter 2:5
In our church meetings, we practice that any public speaking is performed by the men, while the women participate silently. We believe in the teaching of headship and the practice of the head covering. — 1 Corinthians 14:34, 1 Timothy 2:11-12
We believe the Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. It is our desire to provide you with a friendly and spiritual atmosphere in which you can find eternal life for your soul and lasting peace in your life through faith in Jesus Christ.
We place great value on families. The future of children is vitally important to us. Therefore, we endeavour to bring the gospel message to children in a simple and loving way as well as providing oral training and spiritual guidance for young people.
You and your family are cordially invited to attend any of our meetings. They are conducted in an orderly fashion with reverence for God. No collections from the public or appeals for monetary funding will ever be made.
If you would like to know more about New Testament teaching regarding the local church, we would be pleased to discuss this matter with you.
"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."
"And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence."
"But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;"
"For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:"
"As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."
"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."
"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you."
"And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight."
"For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come."
